Today we learnt how to carefully prepare a science experiment.
To create a 'fair test' we needed to change only one thing and to keep everything else the same. We put gummy bears into four different types of liquids; vinegar, water, salt water and baking soda mixed into water. We carefully measured the different liquids to make sure we had the same amount in each cup. Next we put gummy bears into the different liquids and made predictions as to what we thought might happen.
By the end of the day changes had already begun ...
This week is Māori language week. We will be focusing on
learning our Mihimihi introducing ourselves. Please help your child to fill in the mihimihi template that was sent home today and return it to school tomorrow.
The focus of our science experiment today was making predictions. First we put three drops of food colouring into a bowl of milk and then added a drop of dishwashing liquid into the middle of the bowl. Before we added dishwashing liquid we shared our ideas about what we thought might happen.
